Tonight (Wed. Dec. 9th) Barbara Walters will reveal her 10 most fascinating people of 2009. She clarifies… we’re not talking about the most news-worthy or the most reported on. She claims that all the people on her list are people we didn’t know about 2 years ago (with the exception of Brett Favre… although you could argue he is in the general publics awareness much more now than 2 years ago). Her list is as follows…
Speculation is that Taylor Swift will be the mystery guest, and possibly THE most fascinating person. I heard a man ask, “what about Tiger Woods? He’s pretty fascinating now.” Dennis Miller said it well when he said “there’s a difference between fascination and rubber-necking the train wreck.”
This got me thinking about who my most fascinating people of 2009 would be. You know what… I couldn’t really come up with my own, original list. So, in no particular order, I give you a few of my top cigars smoked in 2009:
Cain– A brand new cigar put out this year from the makers of Nub. I typically don’t “taste” a lot of various or strong flavors in cigars, but from the first draw I can say with certainty that this cigar is nutty. Now, I hesitate to describe anything as “nutty” because I immediately think of Austin Powers as he drinks a beaker full of poo, thinking it is coffee, and describes it as nutty. However, there is no other word to describe the taste of the Cain. It was a great, clean, smooth smoke.
La Gloria Cubana Serie R #6– One of my favorite, “go to” smokes. I always enjoy this cigar and it is definitely something I enjoy when life is up (or down), good (or tough), and if I’ve had a great week (or a crappy one).
Rocky Patel 1990– I have smoked a few of these cigars before, but a friend really pointed out to me the consistency in flavor, burn, construction, etc of the RP. If I find myself in a humidor looking for a smoke, it is hard not to gravitate immediately to the Rocky’s… I know what I’m getting and I know it is good.
Casa Magna Colorado Robusto– This cigar was rated as the top smoke of 2008 by Cigar Aficionado. That is the sole reason I sought out this cigar. It is powerful, flavorful, and not for the rookie cigar smoker.
If you’re a cigar smoker, let me know what some of your favorites are…

My favorite cigar is the Milk Chocolate by See’s of Oakland, California. Rich and creamy. YUM!
“A cigar ought not to be smoked solely with the mouth, but with the hand, the eyes, and with the spirit.” – Zino Davidoff
